Netanyahu: Israel wants ‘true peace pact’ with Lebanon Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Saturday that he wants a peace deal with Lebanon “that will last for generations”. He also said that Iran and its allies are “fighting for survival” amid ongoing ceasefire talks between the US and Iran taking place in Islamabad. This comes as Hezbollah supporters demonstrate in Beirut to protest the prospect of Lebanon's government engaging in direct negotiations with Israel. Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed over 2,000 people so far, according to Lebanon's health ministry.
