Son of exiled shah rejects Iran peace talks Reza Pahlavi has rejected the prospect of negotiations with Iran’s current leadership, claiming they cannot be trusted and will continue to threaten US security. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Texas, the 65-year-old said Tehran would use diplomacy to stall before reverting to what he described as hostile behaviour. “The only thing that the remnants of this regime can be relied on to do is to buy time, to cheat and to steal,” he said. “They will never be honest or true partners for peace.” Pahlavi, who has lived in exile for decades, has positioned himself as a potential leader. But Iran’s opposition remains deeply divided, while President Trump has expressed doubts about his viability, suggesting leadership may need to emerge from inside the country.
